I spoke to a local and asked , “is it always windy like this?” “No, he said, sometimes it is worse.” We are more than a little concerned that the way they get new residents here is the wind. You pull off the highway and are afraid to get back on it in the wind. We took the dogs for a long walk to “downtown” the wind……have I already mentioned the wind? Was gusting. Stuff was flying. We were walking. The dogs looked like their heads were out the window on the freeway; so did we, I am sure. When we arrived in “downtown” we were greeted with lots of chainlink fencing and views of rubble that previously had been older buildings. My first thought was that the wind had knocked town down. But no, it seems that there was a 6.0 earthquake in February and it had the dubious honor of taking out Wells. So we are safely back in the MoHo enjoying champagne and pizza, watching tv and hoping the wind is a little less tomorrow.
Mother Nature is a Bitch
Soooooooooo we left home after packing furiously for three or four weeks. OK OK it only seemed that long. The tires on the MoHo started to bulge as we added heavier and heavier itens on top of one another. OK OK they didn’t actually bulge it just seemed that way in my mind as I shlept items to the roof to be tied down. Beverly Hill Billies got nothing on us. So finally we left town a day or two later than initially thought. And drove all the way to GALT. OK not a long distance to get going but who can denie the allure of the Butter Cup RV Park ?? We ahd a very nice visit then crack ‘o noon we headed off yet again and made it all the way to Truckee. We stayed in the same site as a year ago in order to do some fishing.Jodee was gorgeous as ever in her flyfishing garg….. yet neither of us caught any fish. I however was eaten alive by mosquitoes….fun. Next day we got serious about the miles and drove all the way to Wells Nevada. I BBQ’d filet mignon as Jodee made a lovely salad (don’t want skurvy, don’t ya know) Wireless internet, electricity, sewer, water, hot showers !!!!! Luxury I tell you!!!!! We woke up to 50 mile per hour gusts slamming the MoHo. Both of us pulled the covers over our heads and tried to ignor it. That of course did not work. Sooooo we are still in Wells as I was concerned about capsizing the MoHo. (Tipping over )
The Old Ho Rides Again…….
